At first I thought I had discovered another bromeliad flower spike.
I hadn't seen one quite like this before.
It looks like a red pineapple.
And after a little research (thank you Google) I found it is actually an ananas bracteatus.
An ornamental red pineapple.
Isn't it wonderful, the things Google can tell you?!

Yes it does look like a red pineapple Thea! And it's a beautiful, exotic looking flower, I don't think I've ever seen one like that before. Great shot :o) xo
