Ornamental Red Pineapple

Another photo from our nearby park.
At first I thought I had discovered another bromeliad flower spike.
I hadn't seen one quite like this before.
It looks like a red pineapple.
And after a little research (thank you Google) I found it is actually an ananas bracteatus.
An ornamental red pineapple.
Isn't it wonderful, the things Google can tell you?!

Rainbow Lorikeet

I have put a couple of photos on of rainbow lorikeets already.
But you can never have too many of these gorgeous little guys, can you?
I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to catch this one yesterday.
I had just been walking around the block at my mother-in-law's to snap flowers and this little birdie flew into the tree right above my head as I was about to walk in the back gate.
I had my two cameras with me, of course, so I quickly grabbed the Nikon S8000, zoomed as far a I could, and captured this just before it flew off.

Not Ugly Duckling

The babies are growing so fast!
I love the drop of water in this one...

Another Bromeliad

This is very similar to the Matchsticks Bromeliad that I snapped a little while ago.
Aren't these flower spikes amazing?
They don't even look real!

Fountain

I've just been to the duck pond with my Miss 3.
It's a gorgeous day, I think my nose is burnt!
There are four fountains in the ponds.
I love this one.
