The Rose and The Grasshopper

We visited the family farm recently and that always means a walk through my Aunty Rose's rose garden.
I found this...

Sunset at Binna Burra

I'm finally at the end of our Binna Burra stay.
The sunsets from the Coomera Terrace were absolutely magnificent.

Rufous Fantail

I snapped this lovely little bird on the Senses Trail Circuit at Binna Burra.
It is a short bushwalk for the blind, or blindfolded children, to hold a rope as a guide and use their other senses to discover what's in the rainforest.
We didn't do it blindfolded, but the kids did love holding the rope.
And this little birdie loved sitting on it.

As I always do when I photograph a new bird, I Google research it to discover what it is.
This one had me completely stumped.
I thought it was a willy wagtail but I'd never seen one this colour before.
All searches came up with nothing, and so last night I turned to Twitter.
And as always, Twitter knows everything.
Thanks to Leonie, I now know that it's a rufous fantail!

Fallen Log

I love this moss covered fallen log that we walked past on one our our little bush walks at Binna Burra.

Pink Lily

At least I think it's a lily.
I'd never seen a flower like this before.
I adore pink and was thrilled when I found this in the gardens at Binna Burra Lodge.
I was even more thrilled when I saw the photo.
I think this may just be my favourite photo...ever!

Daisies

We're still at Binna Burra.
Let's tour the gardens.
Three pretty daisies, all in a row.

Noisy Miner

When I was out searching for the satin bower bird near the lodge, I snapped this instead.
It's nowhere near as pretty as the bower bird, but it looks kind of cute in this picture.

Another View

This was another view on the way back up the mountain to the lodge.
The views go on forever at Binna Burra. It's like being on top of the world.
Shame about the power lines but I guess they have to get electricity to the lodge somehow.

The View

On the second day of our Easter getaway to Binna Burra, we took the kids on a 2km bushwalk to Bellbird Lookout. This was the amazing view at the end of the walk. You can just see Egg Rock to the left.

Tiny White Flowers

These were also in the gardens at Binna Burra Lodge.
I don't know what they are called.
But they're pretty little things.

Banksia

Small banksia bushes were also in the gardens of Binna Burra Lodge.
I love this macro of a banksia flower spike.

Heart Flower

These lovely flowers were in the gardens all around Binna Burra Lodge.
They all had circular centres, except this one, which had a heart in the middle!

Goanna

We found this on the path at the end of our bushwalk.
I don't know about you, but these things freak me out a little!
I'm guessing it was about 1m long.
But nice camouflage don't you think?

Look Up

Here's another photo from our bushwalk at Binna Burra.
I love looking up in the rainforest.
Does it make you a bit dizzy?

Moss or Lichen?

I took this on one of our bushwalks at Binna Burra.
It was growing on a tree and I don't know if it's moss or lichen, or something else all together.
Do you know?

Koala

I have almost 300 photos from our Easter getaway to Binna Burra Lodge.
How many should I show you? Hmmmmmmm

How about this one to start with...it was the first one I took when we got there.
This  little guy was just outside our cabin.

Noosa Heads

It's easy to see why this is a popular spot.
Paradise?
I think so.

Surfers

Here's proof that there were many surfers out there, not just the one that was in the previous photo.
I thought the strappy pandanus leaves would be interesting in this photo, but I think they're just annoying.
What do you think?

Lone Surfer at Noosa

Another weekend, another walk and picnic.
This time we went to Noosa, the most beautiful beach on the Sunshine Coast.
And this surfer may look all alone in the picture, but there must have been a hundred out there, waiting for a wave.
