The Duck Pond

I took the kids to the playground near the duck pond this morning. After a quick play, we did one lap of the pond and I came home with lots of photos...as usual. Here are my favourites.

Yes, that's an eel!

Mum and the "babies"

Here comes Dad

"Are you looking at me?"

I was excited to see a darter and a pelican together, but the pelican wouldn't pose for me!

Not Ugly Duckling

The babies are growing so fast!
I love the drop of water in this one...

Cygnet

I'm totally hooked on these little guys.
I must have taken a million photos of them already...well...nearly!

Swan Family for Father's Day

My Miss 3 wants to visit the duck pond almost every day.
And when I can photograph these...I'm happy to take her.

A protective daddy swan and his family, for Father's Day.
(He came to tell us off for being too close after I took this one.)

Cygnets

I took the kids, their scooters and some stale old bread to the duck pond yesterday.
Our duck pond is fabulous, there is a walking track all the way around.
There are always so many different birds.
And there is always a family of ducks.
And a family of swans.
Yesterday we saw for the first time this season, the swans' babies, three cygnets.
They were absolutely adorable.
So cute and fluffy.
The kids and I wanted to pick them up for a cuddle, but if you've ever seen a protective mummy and daddy swan, you would know that is not a good idea!
