365 Days In Nature - Day 155

I love winter in Queensland.
Clear blue skies.
Warm sunny days.
The sun is lower and it seems to light up the flowers.
This is the first bloom on the orange trumpet creeper.
The perfect winter flower.

365 Days In Nature - Day 145

I took the kids out to the block this afternoon so we could see the sunset for the first time.
Oh yeah, I think I could used to this!!

365 Days In Nature - Day 137

I think I was destined to snap a butterfly today.
The first thing I saw outside this morning was a beautiful big orange butterfly.
I wandered around the yard trying to capture it but I either couldn't find it, or it was too fast.
This afternoon I took the kids out to the block and there were butterflies everywhere!
After a lengthy search on Google, I think this is a female Danaid Eggfly.
Am I right butterfly experts?

365 Days In Nature - Day 107

We just had one helluva storm!
And after the storm...this...another cloud photo.

365 Days In Nature - Day 87

I walked out to the end of our back lane for my nature shot today.

Day 49 - 365 Days In Nature

My husband found this cute little fella on the fence at the beach.
After a quick consultation with Mr Google, I believe it is a Cotton Harlequin Bug.

Day 42 - 365 Days In Nature

I've been flower snapping again.
You know it's one of my favourite things!
I believe these are jungle geraniums or Ixora coccinea.

Yellow and Orange Flowers

I found these delightful flowers on a small shrub in my mother-in-law's garden.
I have no idea what they are. Do you?
But they look a little like hot air balloons, don't you think?

Another Rose

One thing I love to do is walk around my Aunty Rose's rose garden.
She has so many rose bushes and she knows the name of every single one of them.
I took heaps of photos and remember the names of none of them!
Here's a pretty orange one...

Rememberance Day.
It's not a poppy, but it is orange.

Going Going Going Gone

I took this series of photos a few months ago.
This is the first time I've put some pictures together into a collection.
What do you think?

Chinese Lantern

My first photo taken with the new camera.
This was in my friend's garden.
It's a chinese lantern.
Isn't it cute?

Ball of Fire

Yesterday, as the sun descended into the smoke haze on the horizon, it looked like a huge orange ball of fire. Which of course it is.

The Sun

I know...another sunset photo!
But what I particularly love about this one is the bird as well.
Two of my favourite things to photograph in one photo...if only there was a flower in there as well! ;)
Please enjoy yesterday's sunset...

Marigolds

I adore flowers, but usually not yellow, orange or red ones...I know I'm flowerist!
So marigolds aren't on my list of favourite flowers.
But how can you not love these?
I took this shot in our local park a couple of months ago.

Orange Trumpets

This vine, the orange trumpet creeper, is growing prolifically on the fence line between our house and our neighbours. We didn't plant it but I do love it. Orange is not one of my favourite colours (it is my 6 year old boy's favourite colour), but it is so spectacular and the little flowers really do look like trumpets.
