Another Rose

One thing I love to do is walk around my Aunty Rose's rose garden.
She has so many rose bushes and she knows the name of every single one of them.
I took heaps of photos and remember the names of none of them!
Here's a pretty orange one...

Friday 30 December 2011

Calf

Time for a farm photo.
These little ladies are just too cute.

Thursday 29 December 2011

Red Velvet Hibiscus

This stunning flower was growing in my sister's garden.
I'd never seen one this colour before...gorgeous!

Wednesday 28 December 2011

Rose

This was taken from a bunch of cut flowers from my Aunty Rose's Rose garden.

Tuesday 27 December 2011

Storm

I love watching a storm rolling in.
And my sister has the most amazing view of them from her back yard.

Boxing Day - At The Races

Today was the first day we have taken the kids to the races.
And it was the first race for their Grandad & Grandma's new horse.

He didn't win...
but he is pretty....no?

Merry Christmas - Mary & Jesus

Day 25 of Christmas photos...MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The final photo in the Christmas photo series and I saved this one 'til last.
A photo that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.

Saturday 24 December 2011

Santa in a Shop Window

Day 24 of Christmas photos...we're almost there!

Another photo from the Christmas stroll with Miss 4.
I love a traditional looking Santa, even if is the middle of Summer here.

Christmas in the Main Street

Day 23 of Christmas photos.

Last night, just on dusk, my Miss 4 and I went for a walk down our main street to take some Christmas photos. I had the Nikon D3100, she had the Nikon Coolpix S8000. And we had a lovely time.

Here is one she took of the Christmas tree in the centre of town.

And here is one I took of a shop window.

Blue Mirror Ball Ornament

Day 22 of Christmas photos, so close now!
What's a Wings & Bling tree without some mini disco balls?
We have about 10 of these, in pink, purple, green and blue.
I love their sparkle!

Wednesday 21 December 2011

Under the Tree

Day 21 of Christmas photos.
Today's photo is under the Christmas tree.
The present wrapping has commenced...still more to go...

Tuesday 20 December 2011

Blue Dragonfly Ornament

Day 20 of Christmas photos.
Another new one that I bought because it has wings.
How cute is this little blue dragonfly?

Monday 19 December 2011

Purple Butterfly Ornament

Day 19 of Christmas photos.
Today's ornament is another new one.
A pretty purple blingy butterfly.
Yes, I went nuts at the Myer Christmas shop!

Sunday 18 December 2011

Little Angel Ornament

Day 18 of Christmas photos.
Only one week to go!
Today's photo is a sweet little ceramic angel that is also a bell.
I've had this one for a very long time.
And I can't quite remember, but I think it was also a gift from a student.
She has wings so she was allowed on the tree this year.
Luckily, it would have been awful if she had to miss out, because she is so cute.

Saturday 17 December 2011

Pink Birdie Ornament

Day 17 of Christmas photos.
This is my last little birdie.
I saw this 2 days ago in Big W for less than $2!
It's a birdie...
It's glittery...
It's pink...
The trifecta!!

Friday 16 December 2011

Silver Birdie Ornament

Day 16 of Christmas photos.
Let's stick with the birdies.
Here is another new one!
Yes, Lindy, I did but quite a few!! But not just to blog about. ;)
Just because I love Christmas ornaments. :)
Here's my silver blingy birdie.

Thursday 15 December 2011

Blue Birdie Christmas Ornament

Day 15 of Christmas photos.
Only 10 days until Christmas!
I'd better get to the shops...I'm not ready yet!

Today's photo is another new ornament for this year.
A beautiful blue birdie.

Wednesday 14 December 2011

Christmas Bear

Day 14 of Christmas photos.
This little guy sits under our Christmas tree.
He was given to me by a student years ago.

He looks like he's had a rough night!

Tuesday 13 December 2011

Silver Bauble

Day 13 of Christmas Photos.
This one is a new ornament.
I love silver and it has just the right amount of sparkle!

Monday 12 December 2011

Christmas Bow

Day 12 of Christmas photos.
The last handmade ornament, unless I happen to make some more...
I love bows on Christmas trees. Either stiff wired ribbon bows to sit in gaps on the tree (that's this one).
And I also love to buy a roll of pretty ribbon and tie it onto the brances in bows all over the tree.
I haven't done that this year, may next year's theme can be 'bows'.
Anyhow I'm getting ahead of myself.

Here is my favourite bow on the tree this year.

Sunday 11 December 2011

Handmade Gold Christmas Bauble

Day 11 of Christmas photos.
The next handmade ornament is so easy, it's a great craft project for kids at Christmas time.
I made 4 of these almost 20 years ago, oh boy that makes me feel so old!
If you want to make some, I tell you how here on my other blog.

Saturday 10 December 2011

Handmade Red Lamé Bauble

Day 10 of Christmas photos.
Another handmade ornament today.
Every year I like to make some decorations for the Christmas tree to fit the theme.
This year I covered 5 polystyrene balls with red lamé, and decorated them with sequins and crystals.
I made them using purple, pink, blue, fuchsia and gold sequins.
Very bling-y!
This is the fuchsia one.

Friday 9 December 2011

Crystal Snowflake Ornament

Day 9 of Christmas photos.
Let's move on to some handmade ornaments.
This is one I made a few years ago.
It's a snowflake made from jewellery pins and Swarovski crystals.
It was fiddly, but so worth it.
I love how delicate it is.

Thursday 8 December 2011

Pink Chandelier Ornament

Day 8 of Christmas photos.
Yesterday was all time favourite ornament.
Today is my favorite 'new' ornament.
Myer has the best Christmas Shop I've ever seen.
I was like a kid in a candy store buying new decorations for the tree this year.
When I saw this one, I think I gasped out loud.
It's pink.
It's sparkly.
It's a chandelier.
I simply love it!
But, like yesterday's, it was also very difficult to photograph!!

Wednesday 7 December 2011

Bird Ornament from Munich

Day 7 of Christmas photos and today we have my very favourite!
I bought this in Munich on our honeymoon, 9 years ago.
It was a brave move for me.
We didn't speak the language so we didn't do much communicating,
and we didn't buy much.
But when I saw these, I fell in love.
It's the most beautiful soft pink (almost the same colour as my wedding dress),
and it has a touch of glitter and a very long feather tail.
I was so careful with it, making sure it was safe all the way back to Australia.
And every year, regardless of my theme, it has pride of place on our tree.
Fortunately this year, it fits the theme perfectly.

Tuesday 6 December 2011

Ballerina Ornament

Just after Miss 4 spotted yesterday's swan, she spied this one.
And instantly fell in love.
She loves everything 'ballet' and dances around the house like a prima ballerina all the time!
I also happen to love ballet.
I wanted to be a ballerina when I was little, until my mum told me I'd be like a baby elephant!!
So here is Miss 4's favourite ornament...well, she actually has a few favourites, but this is her best favourite.

Monday 5 December 2011

Swan Ornament

Day 5 of the Christmas photos.
A new one today.
When Miss 4 spotted this glittery swan in the shop, I knew it was perfect.
It fits my theme of 'Wings & Bling'.
And after photographing the swans at the duck pond for months, we had to have it!

Candy Cane Christmas Angel

Another angel and I'm pretty sure this was a gift as well because I don't remember buying it.
I also can't remember if it was from a student or staff member...memory is foggy!
She fits in nicely with my 'Wings & Bling' theme though.

Red Bauble

Day 3 of the Christmas photos.
This ornament was given to me by one of my students in 2001.
I thought it was so thoughtful.
It has my name on one side, and Merry Christmas 2001 on the other.
I only wish it had the name of the child who gave it to me because I cannot, for the life of me, remember who it was!

Christmas Angel

Christmas photo number 2 is of a darling little angel playing the violin.
I'm not sure when or where I got this ornament, but I've had it for a very long time.

Christmas Bell

It's finally December...
or it's December already!
I can't quite decide how to feel about December being here again already.
But I do know I love Christmas decorations and ornaments.
We've had our tree up for almost a week.
Every day until Christmas Day, I'm posting a Christmas photo.
Most will be from our tree.

Here's the first one...
a sweet little Christmas bell.

Soar

Another photo of the hawk (I wish I could find out what it is) above the canal.
I took so many photos.
I set the camera on continuous and just click, click, clicked!
This is another time I wish I had the zoom lens.
I've cropped this photo so you can see it's not sharp.
But I love the sun light through the feathers.

Frangipani...again

I know I've already put a photo of my frangipani on not long ago.
But I just can't resist taking more photos of these delightful flowers.
I can see my little frangipani tree is going to keep me very busy...and happy...for quite awhile!

Jacaranda Purple

Most of the jacarandas around town have finished flowering.
But some still have their gorgeous purple blooms.
Like this one at the duck pond.
Immerse yourself in some purply goodness.
Divine, isn't it?

Flight

I took this yesterday above the canal at Caloundra.
I don't know what this bird is, I'm guessing some kind of hawk.
It was diving into the canal trying to catch fish.
Didn't catch any while we were watching.

Pink Lilly Pilly

I was so surprised to see this at the duck pond.
A pink lily pilly flower!
All of ours are white.

Saturday 19 November 2011

Yellow Hibiscus

I don't love yellow.
But this gorgeous lemony colour is divine.
This hibiscus looks like a fluffy lemon meringue pie.
YUM!

I snapped this amazing bird at the duck pond during the week.

Pink Roses

Pink roses are my very favourite flower.
I think I may have said that once or twice already! ;)
I so wish these were in my garden.
I found them in a garden in my mother-in-law's street as we were walking.
I still feel like I'm skulking in other people's gardens, but hey, if you don't put a fence across your front yard.....

Who knew bees had pollen baskets?
Not me.
Do now!

Our Church

Yesterday I showed you the cross.
Today I'm showing the full picture.
Our church...St Patrick's...

Cross

A special Sunday morning photo today.
I took this while I was walking past our church a few weeks ago.

Frangipani

Nothing says Summer quite like frangipanis.
Yesterday I discovered our little frangipani tree has flowered.
I was very excited about that!
I'm not a Summer lover, but I do love frangipanis!!
