365 Days of Man's Mark on the World - January 2014

At the beginning of 2013 I began a 365 Project called 365 Days In Nature.
This year I'm continuing that one and starting a new one called 365 Days of Man's Mark on the World.
My goal is to take a photo of something man made every day for the whole year.
I've started a Facebook group to share our photos.
If you want to join us, you can find us here... 365 Days of Man's Mark on the World

Day 1 - 1st Jan - Man's way of creating a water view...gotta love the canals!

Day 2 - 2nd Jan - Pools are a great man made invention for the kids!

Day 3 - 3rd Jan - A man made Pelican rest stop.

(Weekend Theme: Wrack & Ruin)

Day 4 - 4th Jan - All that remains of the SS Dicky on Dicky Beach, Caloundra.

Day 5 - 5th Jan - Fishing from the Military Jetty at Golden Beach, Caloundra.

Day 6 - 6th Jan - Things my husband has dug up in the back yard...artefacts?

Day 7 - 7th Jan - We like to decorate our world! Apparently the Christmas Tree should come down today...that may or may not happen.

Day 8 - 8th Jan - This is my 6 year old daughter's mark on the world. She sat for ages painting this today.

Day 9 - 9th Jan - Man needs a BIG shed!

Day 10 - 10th Jan - A good old Aussie invention. Every Australian backyard should have one!

(Weekend Theme: Lines)

Day 11 - 11th Jan - At the bottom of Mount Coolum I saw this wooden fence and I liked the lines.

Day 12 - 12th Jan - Man made rock steps almost all the way to the top of Mount Coolum to make it easier for anyone to get to the top!

Day 13 - 13th Jan - The lovely old clock tower that we can see from our front patio. It was built in 1945And is rarely the right time. I took this at 10:45am!

Day 14 - 14th Jan - As a civilization, where would we be without the folding chair? ;)

Day 15 - 15th Jan - Man made music.

Day 16 - 16th Jan - The lovely old house across the road.

Day 17 - 17th Jan - The cross on the top of our church, St Patrick's in Gympie.

(Weekend Theme: Sculpture

Day 18 - 18th Jan - The infinity sculpture at Maroochy Botanic Gardens.

Day 19 - 19th Jan - Man made fun...ice-skating in the middle of Summer! Two hours of 14°C....perfect!!

Day 20 - 20th Jan - Another aspect of our view...a street in our country town with just one of the pubs!

Day 21 - 21st Jan - More pretty houses in our street. I love this style of house.

Day 22 - 22nd Jan - Man-made-do-it-yourself tiling. I was the assistant today. It's very messy but we're getting there!

Day 23 - 23rd Jan - Man made by my man for dinner last night. Can you say "YUM"?!

Day 24 - 24th Jan - An old disused gold mine shaft in our town.

(Weekend Theme: Got it in RED)

Day 25 - 25th Jan - A cute little birdie ornament in our courtyard.

Day 26 - 26th Jan - Happy Australia Day!! Taken at a car show this morning.

Day 27 - 27th Jan - Another one from the car show yesterday. Check out that steering wheel...and the fluffy dice!

Day 28 - 28th Jan - Sticking with the car show...a really old fire truck!

Day 29 - 29th Jan - A big part of what our town was all about. This is at the museum.

Day 30 - 30th Jan - A water fountain at the duck pond. Man's way of making a natural element even prettier.

Day 31 - 31st Jan - Some old cattle yards near Kenilworth.

FMS Photo a Day Challenge - January 2014

I've been playing along with the Photo a Day Challenge set by
since August 2012 and haven't missed a single day.
Nope, not one day!

Now I'm back at it for another New Year.
I add to this post daily
and also post the photos to the
FMS Photo A Day Facebook group.

1. Lunch - Fish & Chips at the tavern...perfect lunch for New Year's Day!

2. Begins With G - A pretty geranium in my mother-in-law's garden.

3. My Town - My town hall with its pretty Christmas lights that change colour.

4. Word To Live By - It's on my t-shirt and it's all you need...'LOVE' that is, you don't need my t-shirt!

5. Found - Yesterday I finally found the shipwreck at Caloundra that I've been dying to photograph for ages!

6. Happens Everyday - The sun comes up and this morning it was behind some clouds. It's supposed to heat up to 35° today. Not looking forward to that but it's cooler than it has been!

7. Upside Down - The only place I could hang Little Puppy was from his tail...sorry Little Puppy!!

8. Lucky Number - I've never really had a lucky number. But our wedding was on a Friday...the 13th (over 11 years ago). Some people were a little surprised, but we've always said it was our lucky day. And so far, so good!

9. Natural - The natural beauty of my six year old daughter. But of course, I'm very biased!

10. Manmade - Packaged by Kaboodle and man (and woman) made...or put together...by my husband and me! Our kitchen, which is still not finished!

11. Looking Down - Looking back down the track we just walked up to get to the top of Mount Coolum this morning!

12. Colourful - Some of my colourful yarn stash! Now...what to do with it...?

13. Makes Me Smile - My Miss 6 just learnt to do somersaults in the pool. That makes me smile. Here she is mid roll!

14. 3 Things - I made these 3 things. Now I just have to make 6 more and I'll have myself a new cushion cover!

15. Black + White - Three black + white cows hanging out on my piano. Hey, I could have used this photo yesterday!

16. Sun - The morning sun streaming into our front garden.

17. Tiny - My Miss 6's Grandma gave her a tiny cupcake necklace for Christmas. Isn't it the sweetest thing?

18. Happy Place - My happy place is our front patio in the cool shade of the afternoon...sitting with my husband, overlooking our town, and sipping a glass of something nice.

19. Breakfast - Mine is cooking. What are you having?

20. To Do List - Mine is online...and they're all usually overdue! Yes, I am a serious procrastinator!!

21. Blue - This was fun! I felt like a Bowerbird this morning. How many blue things can you see?

22. Nice! Yesterday afternoon I was enjoying dusk after a 39°C day....Nice! Why do I have my Christmas lights on? Because I can!

23. Bedtime - One of our favourite bedtime stories.

24. Your Space - Your space? My space? I had a little tiff with my husband a couple of days ago when he decided to rearrange the pantry and kitchen shelves. (He is on holidays!) But as he has been doing most of the cooking lately, I need to start thinking of it as OUR space! I'm not good at sharing. :-/

25. A Taste of Summer - It's got to be prawns! My husband cooked these...yes the one that is taking over 'MY' kitchen.

26. Fun Stuff! Jumping back to this time last year...I saw this guy! Soooo much fun!!

27. Something I Bought - This wasn't an easy prompt for me because I am not a shopper! All I buy are groceries and I'm sure you don't want to see those. The last time I bought something for myself was September while we were on holidays at the Gold Coast...my little green bag. It's not a fancy brand, I'm not into labels. But I love it because it has a pocket for everything and I wear it every day.

28. Dinner - My Miss 6 has been asking me to cook this for dinner ever since I got the book for my birthday back in October! I've come to the decision that I don't have cook books for the recipes...I just want to look at the pretty pictures. I'm starting to think that the only way this will be cooked in my kitchen is if Jamie Oliver comes over and cooks it for me...and Miss 6!

29. Window - I love old church windows!

30. Best Invention Ever - Reading glasses! Without them I wouldn't be able to read, sew, knit, crochet, play the piano, edit photos or Facebook!! I'd be totally lost.

31. Polka Dot - Just a few of the polka dot aprons that I have made. Does this make me a little dotty?!
