Soar

Another photo of the hawk (I wish I could find out what it is) above the canal.
I took so many photos.
I set the camera on continuous and just click, click, clicked!
This is another time I wish I had the zoom lens.
I've cropped this photo so you can see it's not sharp.
But I love the sun light through the feathers.

Frangipani...again

I know I've already put a photo of my frangipani on not long ago.
But I just can't resist taking more photos of these delightful flowers.
I can see my little frangipani tree is going to keep me very busy...and happy...for quite awhile!

Jacaranda Purple

Most of the jacarandas around town have finished flowering.
But some still have their gorgeous purple blooms.
Like this one at the duck pond.

Flight

I took this yesterday above the canal at Caloundra.
I don't know what this bird is, I'm guessing some kind of hawk.
It was diving into the canal trying to catch fish.
Didn't catch any while we were watching.

Pink Lilly Pilly

I was so surprised to see this at the duck pond.
A pink lily pilly flower!
All of ours are white.

Yellow Hibiscus

I don't love yellow.
But this gorgeous lemony colour is divine.
This hibiscus looks like a fluffy lemon meringue pie.
YUM!

Pink Roses

Pink roses are my very favourite flower.
I think I may have said that once or twice already! ;)
I so wish these were in my garden.
I found them in a garden in my mother-in-law's street as we were walking.
I still feel like I'm skulking in other people's gardens, but hey, if you don't put a fence across your front yard.....

Frangipani

Nothing says Summer quite like frangipanis.
Yesterday I discovered our little frangipani tree has flowered.
I was very excited about that!
I'm not a Summer lover, but I do love frangipanis!!

Gold Mine

This is an old gold mine in our town.
It is now a museum.
Gold mining is a big part of the history of this town.
Every time my husband digs a hole in the garden he hopes to find a big nugget!
No luck yet....

Bee

I've become a little obsessed lately with trying to capture a perfect bee photo.
This is it, but it's the best I've got...so far.

Gardenia

A pure white gardenia (not camellia as I first thought!).
I snapped this in someone's garden as I was walking past on the weekend.
They really are perfection, aren't they?

Ornamental Red Pineapple

Another photo from our nearby park.
At first I thought I had discovered another bromeliad flower spike.
I hadn't seen one quite like this before.
It looks like a red pineapple.
And after a little research (thank you Google) I found it is actually an ananas bracteatus.
An ornamental red pineapple.
Isn't it wonderful, the things Google can tell you?!

Black Flower

Have you ever seen a black flower?
Neither had I until I spotted some of these growing in our local park.
A black pansy...can you believe it??
