FMS Photo a Day Challenge - August 2014

I've been playing along with the Photo a Day Challenge set by
since August 2012 and haven't missed a single day.
Nope, not one day!

Now I'm back at it for another New Year.
I add to this post daily
and also post the photos to the
FMS Photo A Day Facebook group.

1. Landscape - The mountain rising from the landscape that my husband climbed this morning while I sat reading my sister's book in the car!

2. Lunch - Home made pizza today...yum!

3."S" is for - "S"imply "S"tunning "S"ky just after "S"unset.

4. In the middle - My husband and son look like they're in the middle of the desert...but really they're in the middle of the sand blow at Rainbow Beach.

Fab Four

5. Pile - A pile of books by some of my favourite authors, including two of my sister's!

6. Grateful for - I am grateful for the roof over our heads...even if it is rusty!

7. Spot - My favourite picnic spot, it feels like the top of the world!

8. Pet peeve - The over/under debate...am I the only one who doesn't care? As long as there is paper on there...I'm happy!

9. Mix - I love the mix of blue and brown feathers on our little visitor this morning.

10. Art - One of the most famous art works of all time...possibly "the" most famous.

11. Mirror - Nature's mirror...the Mary River viewed through the Dickabram Bridge.

12. Gather - My boy wanted to gather up a big pile of leaves just so he could jump into them. Why not, I say?

13. Inside - My little girl is very happy inside the cubby house that I made for her.

14. Give - For the past two years I have done the Relay For Life. I've just signed up to do it again in October this year. I hope lots of people give generously to this very worthy cause.

15. Clouds - Amazing clouds over Mt Barney.

16. Clean - Finally...it's raining!! Settling the dust and washing everything clean.

17. Dinner - Part of my mother-in-law's birthday dinner today...barbecued corn on the cob...it was SO good!

Divine 9

18. Arrow - It's something o'clock...

19. To-Do - My pretty 'to do' notepaper.

20. Before bedtime - is bathtime...of course!

21. Decorate - It's something that I don't particularly enjoy...possibly because I'm not very good at it...but I must admit, I was pretty happy with this effort. When I asked my little boy how he wanted me to decorate his 2nd birthday cake he said only 2 words...blue & Bob. I think I nailed it! It was quite a long time ago now...he'll be 10 next month!! Where does the time go?

22. Words - On a page full of words, which one jumps out at you?

23. Style - At this time of year most shops around town decorate their windows 'country style' for the Gympie Music Muster which starts this Thursday. I wonder if Ronan got his ticket...

24. Fragrant - Can you smell it?

25. Mail - A parcel, all ready to take to the post office and pop it in the mail. What's inside? I'll show you in the comments.

26. Breakfast - It was an egg on toast for me this morning, but I wish I was back at our favourite hotel enjoying this again...

27. Dull - Today at school started out sunny and bright, then around lunch time it got very dull and storms passed all around us. I only had three children crying! Can you see our groundsman in his yellow raincoat?

28. Travel - My favourite 'travel' photo. We set the old film camera down on the stone wall, put the timer on and hoped for the best. We didn't know what we got until we had the film developed back at home.

29. Dessert - My Miss 6 made her own dessert last night and she was pretty proud of it!

30. Nearby - A 10 minute walk from home and right next door to my husband's work place, is the 'Australian Institute of Country Music'. Country music is a pretty big deal in our town because we have Caitlyn Shadbolt, a graduate of the institute on The X-Factor and the Gympie Music Muster happening right now...nearby.

31. 10am - At 10am we were stopped at lights in the middle of nowhere for road works. At least we had a pretty view!

365 Days of Man's Mark on the World - August 2014

At the beginning of 2013 I began a 365 Project called 365 Days In Nature.
This year I'm continuing that one and starting a new one called 365 Days of Man's Mark on the World.
My goal is to take a photo of something man made every day for the whole year.
I've started a Facebook group to share our photos.
If you want to join us, you can find us here... 365 Days of Man's Mark on the World

Day 213 - 1st August - Churches & Abbeys - My final photo for the theme is the biggest church in the world (I think), St Peter's Basilica in Rome.

Day 214 - 2nd August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - This large statue in our town is a monument to commemorate the gold miners.

Day 215 - 3rd August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - "Memorial to the miners who died in accidents on Gympie goldfields 1868 - 1952". This memorial is at the top of a park just across the street from our house.

Day 216 - 4th August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - Memorial Lane Remembrance Wall in our town.

Day 217 - 5th August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - The gates to Memorial Lane on ANZAC Day.

Day 218 - 6th August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - Headstones in our town cemetery.

John Flood's grave

Day 219 - 7th August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - More headstones from the cemetery.

Day 220 - 8th August - Monuments/Memorials/Headstones - The final photo for this wonderful theme...this rotunda is in our Memorial Park, the plaque reads:
IN MEMORY OF

FALLEN COMRADES

THE GREAT WAR

      1914-1918

Day 221 - 9th August - Clocks - We have two clock towers in our town, and I can see them both from our house. This is the most impressive one, at the Court House.

Day 222 - 10th August - Clocks - Today is the other clock tower in town. This one is closer to our house and bells chime the hour of the day. It is lit up for Christmas here.

Day 223 - 11th August - Clocks - The same clock tower as yesterday from a different perspective.

Day 224 - 12th August - Clocks - My favourite clock on the lounge room wall tells me it's time to get ready for school!

Day 225 - 13th August - Clocks - We haven't set the alarm for years and years...now we have internal alarms. Before kids I used to hit the snooze button up to 8 times!! No snoozing now!

Day 226 - 14th August - Clocks - The most wonderful clock I've ever seen, the glockenspiel in Munich. Every day at 11 a.m. it chimes and re-enacts two stories from the 16th century. It consists of 43 bells and 32 life-sized figures.

Day 227 - 15th August - Clocks - My brand new kitchen clock! I bought it yesterday because our old one died and I NEED a clock in the kitchen. Isn't it pretty?

Day 228 - 16th August - Stairs - Stone stairs on the way to the top of Mt Coolum.

Day 229 - 17th August - Stairs - Stairs in my mother-in-law's back garden.

Day 230 - 18th August - Stairs - The kids at the top of the stairs but where's the plane?

Day 231 - 19th August - Stairs - Stairs in the forest at Buderim.

Day 232 - 20th August - Stairs - The stairs that almost killed me...we'd already walked about 5km from the train station in Lyon, when we looked around the corner to see this...well let's just say my mood wasn't pretty!

Day 233 - 21st August - Stairs - I took this photo in Rome on Palatine Hill with my old film camera, before photography became a major hobby. I've always loved it.

Day 234 - 22nd August - Stairs - Some of the most famous stairs in the world, The Spanish Steps in Rome. Shame it's not one of the best photos in the world!

Day 235 - 23rd August - Anything Old - One of the things our town is famous for is the Mary Valley Rattler, an old steam train. This is the old, but very glamorous dining car.

Day 236 - 24th August - Anything Old - I love how well looked after these old beauties can be.

Day 237 - 25th August - Anything Old - Old stuff at the gold mining museum.

Day 238 - 26th August - Anything Old - Old facades in our town.

Day 239 - 27th August - Anything Old - We drove past this on the way to a picnic and my husband knew he had to stop the car without me even asking.

Day 240 - 28th August - Anything Old - Lovely old things at the local museum.

Day 241 - 29th August - Anything Old - A beautiful old parfait glass (as my Mum calls them) with lyrebirds that belonged to my husband's grandmother.

Day 242 - 30th August - Pubs/Hotels/Bars - I've just been on my pub crawl around town, not stopping in, just stopping to snap them! Starting with the pub I used to love hanging out in when we first moved to town. We called it 'The Free' and sat on that lovely verandah on the top floor. Sadly it's no longer open.

Day 243 - 31st August - Pubs/Hotels/Bars - Another pub in town is The Australian, or as we all call it, The Aussie. It's recently had a face lift, but I think I liked the old colour scheme better. Which one do you like best?
