Photo A Day Challenge - May

I've been playing along with the Photo a Day Challenge set by
since August last year.

It's so much fun I'm at it again.
I add to this post daily
and also post the photos to
Fat Mum Slim's Photo A Day Facebook group.

31. Four Things - Four things I saw at our block this afternoon...grass, wood, stones & leaves.

30. Tool - My favourite tool at the moment.

29. Kiss - Butterfly kiss anyone?

28. What You're Doing Now - Procrastinating!! I'm supposed to be doing a job application but instead I'm sorting photos I took yesterday! Now, can someone help me with my application, please? ;)

27. Can't Live Without - Flowers! How dull the world would be without them. Especially pink ones!!

26. Fave Thing To Do On Sunday - My favourite thing to do on Sunday is go somewhere new with the family. Today it was the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival...what fun!

25. Us - My favourite photo of "us". And yes we did take it ourselves ten years ago on our honeymoon! Well, we set it on timer and left it on a wall. It was back in the days of film...so we only took one and we had no idea if we were even in the shot until we got home and had the film developed!

24. Go - As soon as the sun dips below the horizon and the clouds turn pink I feel compelled to GO outside and snap it! This was yesterday's sunset behind the silhouette of the courthouse's clock tower.

23. PJs - Flannie pjs are my absolute favourite and it's just turned flannie pj weather here. I'd wear these all day everywhere if it was socially acceptable!

22. Change - We keep our loose change in a pretty little glass dish that we bought in Venice, on our honeymoon, just over ten years ago.

21. I Care About This...Nature! I love it so much I photograph it every day for my own 365 Days In Nature challenge that I started at the beginning of this year. I snapped this two days ago and I was thrilled when I saw what I'd captured!

20. Light - Three geese paddling into the light on the duck pond.

19. My Favourite View - Sunrise on my family's farm, there is no better view!

18. Want - I want a HUGE house, with room for a baby grand piano, and a water view..."Tell her she's dreaming!"

17. Season - My favourite season to go to the beach is now...Autumn. Summer is way too hot! Autumn is perfect and the water is still warm enough for the kids to swim.

16. Mailbox - One of my favourite shops is so close you can see it through our mailbox. But I hardly ever go there (not a shopper).

15. 7 O'clock - 7 o'clock in the morning is school lunch making time...Vegemite sandwiches with no crusts every day!

14. Need - I was in need of my umbrella walking the kids to school this morning!

13. Sunrise/Sunset - Pretty clouds just before the sun rose this morning and this afternoon's sunset from our back yard.

12. Mother - My favourite thing to do on Mother's Day is go to a nice restaurant for lunch! Hope you all had/are having/will have a lovely Mother's Day!

11. A Smile - Me: Come on kids...a smile is all I ask for.
Kids: No Mum, we're sick of smiling for the camera!

10. Stars - She's seeing stars!

9. A Snack - A yummy snack of pesto, cheese, tomato and basil on a Ryvita. I almost went with blue cheese, though! ;)

8. Shape - My Miss 5 loves making a heart shape with her hands.

7. Something Beginning With F - A very special little fairy that my parents brought home from Ireland for my Miss 5. Isn't she sweet?

6. Broken - Our kitchen is being broken apart bit by bit. And bit by bit my clever husband is building a new one!

5. Paper - A pretty heart paper chain Miss 5 made just for me!

4. In My Cup - My very first green smoothie! I bought a blender today so I can jump on the green smoothie band wagon. It's different, but good! I'm going to get so healthy drinking these for breakfast.

3. This Is Really Good! This is really good fun for the kids...Crazy Hair Day at school!

2. Morning Ritual - It's a new one for me, just started this week, but I'm enjoying it. A cup of warm water with lemon or lime juice first thing in the morning...then I have a coffee!

1. I Bought This! On our honeymoon in Europe, over ten years ago now, I bought mini busts of Beethoven and Mozart in Vienna. They've been proudly sitting on top of my piano ever since. I love them!

365 Days In Nature - Day 151

An unusual little weed/wild flower at our block.

365 Days In Nature - Day 149

I was just about to pick up the camera to take my nature shot for the day when all of a sudden the rain bucketed down!
So here's my rainy nature photo.

The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival

Every year we hear a lot about the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, but had never been.
Until today, that is!
We arrived after 10:30 to a town FULL of people and cars!
We found a car park in the sports grounds and went off to investigate.
We loved the Antique Car Display.

After a short wander around we went back to the car park and had a picnic.

There wasn't too much to see other than markets.
Oh...apart from pumpkins, of course!

Those are some BIG pumpkins!

Yes, it does say 220kg!!

We couldn't decided whether we should stay for the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll or not...
two hours is a long time to fill!

"Should we stay or should we go?"

My husband noticed a sign for Kinbombi Falls as we were driving into town.
He suggested we go for a drive to see it and then go back for "The Roll".
So we did.
But I'm the only one who saw the falls because my husband declared the rail and stairs officially 'dodgy'!

We were in two minds about returning to Goomeri, we wondered whether we'd get another car park and get close enough to see anything.
But Miss 5 started crying because she didn't want to miss it, so we returned!
We found a really close (free!) car park in the church grounds
and staked out the best spot at the top of Policeman's Hill.
Now we just had an hour to wait..........
But it was worth it.
What fun!!

The TV cameras were there

A little cutie

A big cutie

And we're rolling!!

The cutest!

Splitsville!!

"Go pumpkin...GO!"

A butternut pumpkin?

Check out that style

Stuck on the top of the hill

Could it be a Beaudesert Blue?

Some that never made it

It seems smashing pumpkins can be fun!

Goodbye Goomeri.
Now we can say we've been and we've seen.
